Frequently Asked Questions
Can I be hypnotised?
Yes. Some people hold the belief that they are not able to be hypnotized, but the natural relaxed state with which the therapy is conducted in, is more reminiscent of an everyday trance that everybody has experienced such as driving or reading a god book. This means you will be asked to achieve a level of relaxation, where you will be capable of talking to the therapist, and at all times will be in control of what you are saying and doing. As you the client are completely in control of how much you wish to relax, the session is very much in your control. It is normal for clients to feel deeply relaxed and energized after a session, and may soon begin to notice specific changes in their thoughts or behaviours.
What is being in trance like?
Trance is a natural state. You have probably been in and out of some level of trance many times today. Everybody’s experience of hypnosis is slightly different. For some who do not relax often it can be a phenomenal experience, for others it feels like nothing short of lying comfortably in a chair listening to the words and sounds in the room. People often talk about losing sense of time and space, and becoming much more in tune with memories and feelings. What ever your experience it will normally be a relaxing and sometimes refreshing one.
Is hypnosis safe?
Yes. If there was any problem at any time a person would naturally come out of trance. There is very little that could go wrong in the hands of a professional therapist, whilst sitting relaxed, in a comfortable chair, listening to the therapist's words. Hypnosis is a proven method for quickly and effectively providing treatment for many issues and helps to bring health and harmony to mind, body and spirit.
Will I be aware of what is happening?
Yes. Hypnosis is not the same as being asleep. You will be able to hear noises that occur around you and if at anytime you wished to exit trance you would be able to. You are likely to remember some of what was said but probably not every word. This is normal. After all, even under non-trance situations it is extremely unlikely you would remember everything that had been said for an hour period or more.
Will I be in control?
Yes. You will be in full control at all times. No one can control your mind unless you let them. The therapist guides you to the resolution of your issue and cannot make you do anything you do not want to do. Your unconscious protects you and so will not allow you to accept any suggestions that go against your ethics or morals. It can be likened to the client driving a car with the therapist sitting beside them navigating. If the therapist says "turn left" and the client doesn't want to, they will continue driving straight ahead.
Could I remain hypnotised?
No. If trance was not terminated, the person would fall asleep and awaken naturally or they would simply get bored and get up and leave.
Do you use drugs?
Never. Hypnosis is a natural state and does not require drugs of an
y sort.
Can you help with medical issues?
Yes - very often. It is however imperative that you first consult your Doctor regarding the issue. Many problems of a physical nature, including pain control, respond well to hypnosis.
What can I expect to happen at the initial consultation?
You will be made to feel comfortable, at ease and any questions you have will be answered. On the first consultation session, you will be asked questions about yourself and your issue and to define your desired outcomes. The process of expected treatment will be explained and if you feel ready to do so may experience hypnosis to relax you deeply. If you are happy to proceed with therapy or coaching for any issue, payment for that session will be required, and future appointments can be booked.
Further sessions will result in using a broad range of techniques from Cognitive Hypnotherapy and NLP, both in trance and out of trance, to achieve your goals in the quickest time frame.
